This was the second time I stayed at this hotel, both times on a business trip. The room was comfortable and quiet and the breakfast was great. The hotel is slightly out of the city centre, so it is fine if you need to visit the surrounding areas.

Excellent hotel especially the service! At first we couldn't understand why this was the only hotel on the trip that we didn't receive a bottle of water in the room when we arrived and after we asked at the reception they explained that it is currently not possible for them for reasons of sustainability and protecting the environment but they are working on another solution, the explanation definitely satisfied us. Spacious and clean rooms and a great breakfast with plenty and everything! All the service people at breakfast were just exceptionally wonderful and especially Salvo, if you came on the day he was there you were lucky. Free parking is the great advantage of the place, it is not within walking distance from the main points, so it is an important thing. We had a successful experience, thank you!

Great breakfast and modern rooms, spectacular rooftop. On the other hand I wish the walls would be thicker, as you can hear the neighbors and having free of charge water in the minibar would be nice, as the tap water tastes super salty.

This hotel was a very good 3*, it is definitely not a 4* as it appears online but a very good 3 for sure. Good air con, lovely room service, lovely staff. There is a gym (a little Soviet style with no water and no air con) but it had some good equipment. Pool is a nice oasis in the city and the room had Netflix which was great. For what you pay it is a good deal. Does not have the luxuries of a 4 however

Spent a week here until the 15th of October. Beautiful hotel with amazing staff- couldn’t fault them on anything ! Great location to explore Ortigia and the East of Sicily. Breakfast - Fruit, cereals, fresh bread and cooked if you wish Had a meal in the restaurant and the service is second to none - the two men serving us were so attentive- best service we’ve ever had- Well done to them ! Pool on the roof delightful So clean and tidy with great air conditioning We upgraded to a larger room which was fabulous The mirror turns into a television

We got a very dated room with broken towel hanger and a clogged drain for the shower which made a lot of water collect. The drain in the sink was also broken. The internet stopped working several times during our stay, which was a big issue because we had to work remotely. The air conditioning system is the worst I’ve ever seen - I had to keep calling the reception to lower the temperature in our room because the room controls did nothing. The pool area is nice but all the pool jets are turned off. Also they charge you for pool towels, which is ridiculous given how expensive the hotel is. The positive sides are the comfortable beds and the free parking.

In general it’s a good hotel, but you can see that it’s quite dated in many areas. We got a not yet renovated room that had a few issues with e.g. the shower. Also there was an issue with the air conditioning during the night for the first few days, which made it not very comfortable to sleep. The rooftop pool and area is small but nice. However the water jets of the pool don’t work anymore. Also the Wi-Fi stopped working twice for around 2 hours during our stay, which is very annoying if you need it for work.

Overall I enjoyed our stay at the Mercure, I would definitely recommend it! Pros - Rooms are spacious, clean and modern - Very good breakfast, lots of selection and fresh food/pastries - On-site Parking and Garage - Nice rooftop with bar and swimming pool Cons - It's located a bit far away from the center / Ortigia. You will need a car (or by taxi) to go there in the evening - The equipment in the gym is pretty outdated - Lack of milk alternatives at breakfast. Only the typical Sicilian almond milk is available, which is very tasty but extremely sugary. Having an alternative like normal soy or oat milk would be better
